Felt Flower Book Mark

At a party for a few of my 10 year old buddies, we made bookmarks. These were a great way to teach some very basic stitching techniques with embroidery floss.

Start by cutting out some felt leaf shapes for one end and some flower shapes for the other. I actually got this string of die cut felt flowers and my daughter just lopped off a few pink ones.

Pick out a length of ribbon.

Next thread on some embroidery floss and add details while securing the ribbon length. The biggest lesson I wanted to teach was hiding the ugly stitches in between the layers of felt. ie, stitch only the top piece and then sandwich bottom piece over your ugly stitches and it hides them.
